Rosmah visits flood victims in Parit – Bernama


Thousands of flood victims remain homeless despite the break in weather. – The Malaysian Insider file pic, January 17, 2015.The wife of the prime minister, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, today visited the flood victims at the Rimba Raja Hardcore Poor Housing Project (PPRT) in Lambor Kanan.Rosmah also spent about two hours in a cordial meeting with the 200 victims from 48 families and visiting their homes.Rosmah, who is also the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) president, also had lunch together with the residents of the project before heading home.Puteri Umno members, Universiti Teknologi Mara students, IM4U volunteers and other associations were seen carrying out gotong-royong in the housing scheme.Also present was the wife of the deputy prime minister, Puan Seri Noorainee Abdul Rahman and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.Meanwhile, Bakti in a statement said Rosmah, with members of the association, would conduct a post-floods aid mission to the three states affected.Towards this end, Bakti had gone to Perak to channel aid to 48 families at the Rimba Raja PPRT.Bakti will also go to Kelantan tomorrow, to Gua Musang, Kuala Krai and Tanah Merah, to channel aid to 6,000 flood victims. The two other states are Terengganu and Pahang.According to the statement, among the items contributed were canned food, sugar, mineral water, fast food, personal hygiene sets, T-shirts, sarongs, prayer mats, prayer shrouds and blankets.The aid, worth RM4 million, was contributed by several companies: Yeo's, Cosway, Nestle, Giant, Mydin and Bakti itself. – Bernama, January 17, 2015.
